CHURCH VISION: "To be a church empowered and united by the Holy Spirit, that Loves God, Welcomes All and Serves the Community. A hutch where we: Gather for dynamic worship, GROW through Inspired learning, GO into joyful service and LIVE the gospel of Jesus Christ.”

My Story

YoLanda Jones-Colton, “Pastor C” as she is affectionally called, is the Pastor of Mt. Olive UMC in Newnan, Georgia. She was born and raised in Hissop, Alabama, she is a graduate of Jacksonville State University with a B. S. degree in Sociology with a concentration in Social Work and a graduate of Candler School of Theology, in Atlanta, Georgia.

Jones-Colton worked for the State of Georgia Department of Human Services as a Social Worker for 30 years and the State Court Clerk’s Office as a Deputy Clerk for 5 years. She is now RETIRED!  Pastor C., strives for excellence in ministry through the Word of God, the Work of God, and the Will of God.  She sincerely loves God and God’s people; therefore, she professes the words of 1 Corinthians 2:9 boldly “…no eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind has conceived what God has prepared for those who love Him”!

Pastor “C” is the daughter of Earl and Johnnie L. Burton-Jones (both deceased). Jones-Colton is a powerful and supportive force beside Gregory, her God-fearing husband, who is the backbone in her ministry, preaching and is the number one catalyst (God being the first of all things) in giving her the encouragement needed on this pilgrim journey. They are proud parents of an adult son Gregory “Myles” (Brittney) and BiBi to their grandson, Judah.

As a woman of vision, Jones- Colton along with her son Myles are the founders of L. E. A. P. Inc., (Learning Ethics And Professionalism) a not-for-profit organization in Newnan, spearheading for years, a community Back To School Bash at the Coweta County Fairgrounds.

As a member of various boards, Jones- Colton has served on the United Way, Communities In Schools, C. A. F. I. Inc., and is currently serving on DFCS Board of Directors.  Jones- Colton has served on the Board of Laity and as the District Director of Lay Speaking, she also served on the Board of CF& A, the District Superintendence Committee, Clergy Effectiveness Committee of The North Georgia Conference, and currently serves on Black Church Development, Black Methodist Church Renewal, Black Clergy Women Fellowship, Academy of Clergy Excellence as well as the Chair of Licensed Local Pastors and Associate Members, The Conference and District Board of Ordained Ministry and a Spiritual Life Coach. Jones-Colton also serves as an On-Call Chaplain for the Cancer Treatment Center, Newnan.

Jones- Colton accepted her call into the ministry on May 15, 2005, and was appointed the first female pastor of White Plains UMC in July 2006 and the first female pastor of Smith Chapel, Newnan on June 23, 2013, on June 25th, 2017 she became the Servant Leader of The Greater Smith Chapel in Pine Mountain, Georgia. In 2022, Jones-Colton became the first female pastor of Mt. Olive, Newnan.

A woman on a mission to impact and transform this present world into the Kingdom of God, her cool, quiet demeanor fall away when she steps up to the pulpit and lets the word of God come from her heart. Her illustrative preaching style is captivating and touches the hearts, minds and spirits of everyone who hears her. Her legacy is fabulously fashionable, fortunately, fruitful and most of all, fundamentally faithful. Jones- Colton has A Charge to Keep, A God to Glorify and A calling to fulfill.  One of her motto’s adopted from her son is “It is not enough for one to make a difference, a difference is made when one makes an Impact!"
